April 4, 2016 – As Major League Baseball kicks off the 2016 regular season, CSE Talent saw four members of its baseball client pool make Opening Day rosters, including Atlanta Braves outfielder Jeff Francoeur, Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Darin Ruf, Colorado Rockies outfielder Ryan Raburn and New York Yankees pitcher Bryan Mitchell.
Francoeur, 32, returns to Atlanta where his Major League career began in 2005 following a season with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2015. Originally a first-round draft choice (23rd overall) of the Braves in 2002, Francoeur won a 2007 National League Gold Glove for his play in right field and has led his respective league in outfield assists in three seasons during his career (National League in 2007 and 2010 & American League in 2012).
Ruf, 29, enters his fifth season with the Phillies after appearing in a career-high 106 games in 2015. Ruf made his Major League debut on September 14, 2012 and has played in 243 games for the Phillies, hitting .245 with 32 home runs and 33 doubles entering the 2016 season. A native of Omaha, NE, Ruf starred collegiately at Creighton University where he can be found throughout the school’s record book.
Raburn, 34, enters his 16th year in professional baseball and his first as a member of the Colorado Rockies organization. A big-league veteran of 10 seasons, splitting time with the Tigers and Indians, Raburn has totaled over 800 games played, 2,400 at bats, 550 hits, 80 home runs while compiling a .256/.318/.440 slash line. In 2015, Raburn hit .301/.393/.543 as a member of the Indians, adding eight homers and 29 RBI in 82 games of action.
Mitchell, 24, was initially selected to the Yankees Opening Day roster before suffering a toe injury in camp. He will begin the season on the 15-Day Disabled List. Selected in the 2009 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees, Mitchell made his Major League debut for the Yankees in 2014 and has provided valuable depth to the Yankees pitching staff over the past three seasons. Mitchell was initially added to the Yankees 40-man roster in November of 2013 and prior to the 2016 season, made 23 appearances at the big-league level.
